About Unity Bank

Unity Bank is a member owned bank that has been standing with our members since 1959.

Every one of our members is an owner with a voice and a say in our future. We make responsible, ethical decisions that benefit our members and the community, and reinvest our profits to provide better products and services for our members. We create value for members not shareholders and because of this we stand with you both when times are good but also when you need us most. We have a proud record of never ‘foreclosing’ on a home loan since we started operating in 1959, rather we work with our members to help them through difficult times with dignity and respect. We stand with you when times are tough and in the good times too.

From the beginning, we grew out of working lives, family responsibilities and communities that relied on each other.

Today’s Unity Bank reflects the legacy of all of our contributing partners from 1959 through to 2025.

  • 7 March 2025 G&C Mutual Bank and Unity Bank merged to form G&C Mutual Bank.
  • 1 July 2025 G&C Mutual Bank Ltd. Formally changed the name to Unity Bank Ltd.

Unity Bank (1970 - 2025)

  • 1970 Began as Waterside Workers’ of Australia Credit Union
  • 1975 The ASOA (NSW) Credit Union passed a special resolution to re-participate in Waterside Workers of Australia Credit Union
  • 1978 Name changed to Waterside Workers of Australia Credit Union
  • 1994 Name changed to Maritime Workers of Australia Credit Union
  • 2008 Merged with Power Credit Union and renamed Maritime, Mining & Power Credit Union Ltd
  • 2010 Merged with Gosford City Credit Union, which became a division of Maritime, Mining & Power Credit Union Ltd, catering for community members on the NSW Central Coast
  • 2010 Merged with Australian Country Credit Union Ltd (trading as Reliance Member Banking), which became Reliance Credit Union, a division of Maritime, Mining & Power Credit Union Ltd, catering for the Central West of NSW
  • 2015 Collie Miners Credit Union became a division of Maritime, Mining & Power Credit Union Ltd
  • 2015 Newcom Colliery Employees’ Credit Union joined Maritime, Mining & Power Credit Union Ltd
  • 2016 Shell Employees' Credit Union joined Maritime, Mining & Power Credit Union Ltd
  • 2017 Maritime, Mining & Power Credit Union Ltd changed its name to Unity Bank Ltd
  • 2017 Bankstown City Credit Union became a division of Unity Bank Ltd
  • 2018 Central Coast Credit Union became a division of Unity Bank Ltd
